Disability Access and this Site

It is intended that this website be accessible to as many visitors as possible. Continual improvement of the accessibility of our services (such as this website) is an ongoing commitment that you are welcome to contribute to. Just e-mail to offer positive criticism about the accessibility of this site and our services. Your assistance in identifying and addressing any barriers to access is most welcome.

At present, each page has a header beneath which is a three column layout. The two outer columns flank the central column that contains the page's main information. Links to the main pages of the site are located in the left column of each page. Each page also has a right hand column that sometimes contains quotations or information on site updates.

If you are a visually impaired visitor you are reminded that increasing monitor resolution on your PC can optimise the visibility of these webpages. For example, in Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4 and later go to the top menu panel of your browser and click on 'Tools' then select 'Internet options' then click on 'Accessibility'. This will allow you to change the font style and size on your screen. Alternatively, you may change text size by selecting 'View' then 'Text Size' then your desired text size.

If you are using later versions of Netscape Navigator, in the edit drop-down menu at the top of your browser, select 'Preferences' then 'Fonts' or click on 'View' then 'Text Size' to choose a larger or smaller font size.

Graphics within this website usually have descriptive 'tags' that will enable visually impaired visitiors to appreciate the limited graphics used here. Where it has been possible a descriptive 'alt' tag has also been added to graphical links to external sites. However, some of these graphical links (to other websites) cannot be altered. Where this is the case, a text link to the same site has been added either directly above or directly below the graphical link.

There are also links to PDF documents on this site. These are indicated by an asterisk '*' next to the link. PDF documents are compatible with Microsoft® Windows® based screen readers.

If you have a screen reader which does not read PDFs you may wish to convert the PDF to HTML format. PDF documents can be converted to HTML format by typing the URL for the document into an electronic form at the Adobe Acrobat Accessibility page.

Software you may be interested in downloading includes Read Please, award-winning text-to-speech software for Windows based operating systems and ZoomText, a screen magnifier.

Deaf or hearing impaired visitors are informed that there is no audio attached to any part of this site.
